What's on my skincare shelf
Updated: Mar 27, 2018
Because it's all very well saying "Ooh, this is new, buy this!" but in reality, people want to know what works, what's worth the money and what's tried, tested and either proven to be great or proven to be decidedly average. My pal Áine encouraged me to post about what's actually being used by me right now in terms of skincare, so TAH DAH, here it is.
Oh, in the interest of full disclosure, this stunning picture of a bathroom shelf full of Herbivore goodies is not mine, click it for credit!

CLEANSERS
I use Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Cleansing Oil as my makeup removing cleanse. It literally gets through EVERYTHING. I apply it to a dry face with my hands and then use a hot cloth to remove. Then, twice per week I use the Dr Levy one I got in Beacon Face and Dermatology, it's a more exfoliating one and I'd still use the Kiehl's one first. Then around twice a week the I use the UNREAL Prescribed Solutions one - that one has 7% glycolic acid and so is ideal for resurfacing skin. I love them all.
EYE CREAMS
I love the Shiseido Bio Performance one, it sinks right in. The Kiehl's avocado one is nice in theory but it's really thick but takes a while to massage in and sits on the skin a bit, it'd probably be my least favourite and really I've given it too many chances to be great and it hasn't materialised. Then I like Clarins Multi Active Yeux for just every day use, price is okay too. And the Charlotte Tilbury one is a bit of a 'looks nice on the shelf' sort of purchase, IMHO.
SERUMS
Every time I wash my face day or night I use the Image Vital C serum. It’s amazing and smells like oranges. At night, I mix in Pestle and Mortar Retinol night oil twice a week, or my Sunday Riley Sleeping Night Oil either.
TONERS
I like the Pixi Glow Tonic with its 5% glycolic but I HATE the smell so a lot of the time I wind up using it to prevent bikini line ingrown hairs... Probably not what you wanted to hear! I love the Seavite toning sea spray and I am also a fan of Shiseido Ibuki Quick Fix Mist which isn’t just a toner, it's a hydrator and all sorts too.
MASKS
At the moment, I’m OBSESSED with the Glam Glow GravityMud Firming Treatment (the purple tub, silver when it’s on your face). I genuinely hated ALL the previous Glam Glow products but this is amazing. It leaves skin plump, firm, fresh and hydrated and I can't get enough of it.
BREAKOUTS
If I get a spot, or the hint of a spot, or I think there might be one on the way, I straight away use Kiehl's Breakout Control Targeted Blemish Spot Treatment. It WILL KILL ANY SPOT virtually overnight. Yes.
